With the advent of the IOT(Internet of things),malicious hacking attacks will be more frequent and hidden, while developing technology and equipment to prevent IOT controlled by hackers,we have to set up a complex password for the device and regularly update the password.

Surveillance devices such as IP Cameras,DVRs are a big part in IOT,which have the risk to be made as "Chicken" by hackers in attacks. If you haven’t been making the conscious to check and reset your surveillance devices on the basis of the default setting. There will be chances which someone else would utilize it and act it in a bad way.
You could be monitored if your cameras are NOT password protected
Your privacy could be at risk and will draw in some hackers or malwares. Many people are at risk just because they don’t change the settings when they connect their camera to the internet. Here is a situation for home security systems. They all use a pretty generic IP address and unsafe websites from the beginning and all you need to gain access is the username. Under a normally circumstances, the username is always set as “admin” as we all known until you change it yourself. It’s kind of like when you first buy a new router for your WIFI connection. All settings are in default, like password and username.

There are actually a few websites which are listed the open gates for anyone can completely open it to access into webcams online. This is telling you how worse will it be if you let that happen to you.
There are also ways that you can do a simple search and find open webcams. Anyone can do it. If you have ever felt uneasy or that someone may be watching you, you could be right! If you haven’t checked out your security camera settings for a while then you should probably just check and make sure that everything is secure and password protected.

Most DVRs have alarm input and output ports,it means the DVRs support alarm devices. Then,do you know how to connect alarm devices to DVR?Here we drew two simple diagrams to explain it.

Usually, the DVR alarm output port is without 12V DC,so you need add power for alarm output device.Diagram 1:
How to connect alarm devices to CCTV DVR?

But,if the DVR alarm output port with 12V DC,then only need connect siren to the output interface,no need addtional power.Diagram 2:
How to connect alarm devices to CCTV DVR?

How to know the DVR alarm output with or without 12V DC?
Open DVR menu, enter "alarm setting" interface, click "alarm output",then, use multimeter to test
whether there is 12V DC in DVR alarm output port.If there is 12V DC,connect as diagram 2.If no,connect as diagram 1. By the way,MVTEAM DVRs don't have 12V DC output at alarm ports.

How to calculate the bandwidth for IP Cameras?

  • Author:Grace Liu
  • Source:www.mvteamcctv.com
  • Release on :2016-10-20
The influencing factors of bandwidth
1-Video encoding resolution.
The bit rate is bigger when resolution is higher. For example, under the same conditions, the bit rate of 1080P is higher than 720P.

2-Video encoding algorithms.
Such as MPEG-4, H.264, H.265,under the same resolution and SNR,the bit rate:H.265<H.264<MPFG-4.

3-Video compression SNR(Signal-Noise Ratio).
Under same image quality, the lower bandwidth cost by the higher SNR.

In the practical application, the bit rate is adjustable, but reducing the bitrate is usually at the expense of image quality or frame rate.

Device Side Bandwidth calculation
In order to achieve the best video effects, we recommend 1CH HD monitoring occupies bandwidth not less than 3Mbps.Details as below:
How to calculate the bandwidth for IP Cameras? The device side is mainly unload monitor videos, so you need enough upload bandwidth.

Client Side Bandwidth calculation
Please use the following formula to calculate and estimate whether the bandwidth is sufficient:
If the connected device is IP camera, usually connect to the IP camera's second code stream or third stream, assuming that the code stream is 1024kbps, 1024kbps / 8 = 128KB / S, which requires 128KB / S download bandwidth. If  the connected device is NVR, also need 128KB / S multiplied by the number of channels. For example,if the bandwidth is 8M, then 8192kbps / 8≈1024kbps, that means at  8M bandwidth and the network in good condition, you can remote connect 8pcs 1024kbps bit rate IP Cameras. The client side mainly downloads the monitoring video to watch, so it needs have enough download bandwidth.
