Channel title setup is a basic DVR function, but it's really a useful function which can give different name for each camera to help users distinguish different surveillance place clearly.

Then, how to set a name for camera via DVR? Here take the MVTEAM 5 in 1 Hybrid DVR as example:
Enter DVR Menu→System→GUI Display→Channel Title→Set,then, you can edit a name for each channel:

How to set the cameras’ title via MVTEAM 5-in-1 DVR?

How to set the cameras’ title via MVTEAM 5-in-1 DVR?

Since the cameras and dvr are in MVTEAM showroom,so we usually name the cameras by solution or model number. But if the cameras are installed in users' side, you can name cameras with the place name. For example in a hotel, then, can name camera with entrance,Lobby, Corridor etc.

The time and date display are very important too, just check time display on dvr menu, the live view and record will show date and time on screen.
It’s easy to set, but helpful for us to confirm the details, especially on the footage, display it for evidence.

DVR vs NVR vs HVR - How To Choose?

  • Author:Melody
  • Source:www.mvteamcctv.com
  • Release on :2016-11-29
Nowadays since there are DVR, NVR and HVR, then some customers feel confused regards how to choose the right one. Today we will make this more easier for you.
DVR vs NVR vs HVR - How To Choose?
Like the names of all these devices imply, they are all meant to record video from security cameras. The main difference between them is what types of cameras they’re meant to play nicely with.

Digital Video Recorder (DVR)
The DVR is intended to work with standard analog security cameras system, like HD AHD cameras, HD TVI cameras and HD CVI cameras. This doesn't mean that every DVR works with all of these cameras. These DVR categories simply line up with the previously mentioned types of security cameras.Standard HD AHD cameras are intended to be paired with standard AHD DVRs just as HD-TVI and HD-CVI cameras are intended to be paired with their corresponding TVI DVR and CVI DVR.

Network Video Recorder (NVR)
The NVR is paired with IP/network security cameras. There are two different kinds of network video recorder, but don’t worry, they’re both still used with IP cameras.  The first type, and much more common, requires that you connect your IP cameras to your router or a switch. This will mean using the search function on the NVR to “ping” the cameras and then add them to the NVRs device list to begin viewing.  While this is not a very complicated step, it may be one you don’t feel like taking.
In that case, the second option is to go with an NVR that has built in network or PoE (power over Ethernet) ports. This will allow you to connect your IP cameras directly to the back of your NVR just as you would with a DVR. This will remove the step of having to add them manually to a device list, and it will remove all worries of ensuring that they are connected to your network properly.

Hybrid Video Recorder (HVR)
The Hybrid recorder is quickly growing in popularity because of it’s versatility.  Hybrid video recorders (HVR) are compatible with both standard analog signal and digital signal. Here need to change the channel types as the user needs, what we mean is that an 8 channel HVR can be 4ch analog signal and 4ch digital signal, namely can put 4pcs AHD / TVI / Analog / CVI cameras and 4pcs IP cameras.

Now it’s not just the fact that you get a lot for what you pay for that makes them so attractive to consumers. Since here for the HVR you can connect perfectly acceptable AHD / CVI/ TVI/ Analog channels also the IP cameras.

It’ll only be a matter of replacing the cameras instead of a DVR and all of your cable.  Depending on the size of your system, this can save you thousands of dollars on the upgrade.

So to sum up, as MVTEAM has the 5 in 1 Hybrid DVRs, can connect with the Analog camera, AHD cameras, CVI cameras, TVI cameras and IP cameras, if the customers have kinds of above cameras, then the Hybrid would be great option for saving the cost. But just have the IP cameras, then the NVR will be better.

How do Infrared Security Cameras "See" in the dark?

  • Author:Shalyn
  • Source:www.mvteamcctv.com
  • Release on :2016-11-14
While choosing security cameras, the most important element is to consider the lighting condition. A number of CCTV cameras are aimed at operate in normal lighting conditions, but there are cameras which are able to see at night or in low lighting environments.

Nowadays, infrared security cameras allow you to do more than just you can see, they are not only capture surveillance videos at daytime, but in low lighting environments.Yet,how does it work?

Infrared light is the light that we cannot see by our eyes. Infrared light has a longer wavelength and lower frequency than regular visible light. But it can be positioned around under darkness, infrared measures the heat coming from objects in the area and this can be read by the camera, even no light required.

When light is available, infrared cameras will give you a color picture. If it gets darker, the camera has IR cut will automatically switch infrared mode, then pictures become black and white. Below are the image effect of MVTEAM 1080P AHD Camera.

Common Misunderstandings about IP Surveillance System

  • Author:Grace Liu
  • Source:www.mvteamcctv.com
  • Release on :2016-11-08
People who know less about surveillance products often have below misunderstanding about IP surveillance system. The common misunderstandings maybe misguide you to choose a improper system. Here will list the three common misundersandings for your reference.
Common Misunderstandings about IP Surveillance System

Misundersanding 1:The higher the resolution, the better
Do not blind pursuit of high resolution, high resolution requires high code stream support to be achieved(refer to table 1). The higher the resolution, the larger the code stream, the more hard disk occupied per unit time. Some manufacturers advertise the "high-resolution, low stream" to attract people's attention, but if frames is not enough, image will delay longer time, then high resolution is no use.
Secondly, the resolution determines the night vision image quality? actually not, night vision effect is mainly determined by the sensitivity of CMOS chips.

FormatResolutionPixelsRecommend Bandwidth
720P1280*7201MP2M
1024P1280*10241.3MP3M
1080P1920*10802MP4-5M
1536P2048*15363MP5M
4K3840*21608MPMore than 8M

Table 1:Resolution and recommended corresponding code stream

Misundersanding 2:All ONVIF IP Cameras and NVRs are compatible
In the era of pursuiting personalization, some consumers want to combine different brands surveillance products according to their own preferences. They think as long as the products supports ONVIF, then can achieve interoperability, compatible use and unified management. However, not entirely correct, if the front-end cameras and back-end NVRs belong to different brands, although most of the functions can be achieved thru ONVIF protocol, but due to the limitations of public agreement, the back-end part will can not operate some functions of cameras. For example: IP address changes, parameter settings, alarm linkageetc., need professionals staff do the settings thru CMS or IE browser.

In addition, there maybe ONVIF docking problem between different brands products and some uncertainties factors still there. Therefore, considering compatibility issues,  it is best to buy the same brand products, because the private protocol docking is the best choice.

Misundersanding 3:The bigger focal length of lens, the better
People often want to buy the cameras which can see far, wide, and also must be clear. However, different lens only can achieve the best results within a certain range. For example, focal length of home surveillance cameras are usually divided into 3.6mm, 4mm, 6mm, 8mm, 12mm etc., 3.6mm lens is a wide-angle lens with wider monitoring range fit for a small space,But in open space,wide-angle lens maybe even can not see faces clearly; If want to see the faces,  need select the bigger focal length lens which fit for corridors ; Of course, the choice of how much focal length of the lens mostly are decided by the monitor distance. If the monitoring area is with longer distance and wider range, then it's better to increase the number of cameras.

What is NTSC, PAL for Analog signal cameras?

  • Author:Judy Du
  • Source:www.mvteamcctv.com
  • Release on :2016-11-07
When confirm an order, we’ll ask customers what TV system in their country is: NTSC or PAL. This is asked for Analog/AHD cameras. Then, what is NTSC, PAL ?

PAL, NTSC, as well as SECAM, are the world's three analog color TV technology standards. This standard is for television station and television to implement a video and audio signal together. Only under the same technical standards, can be able to achieve the TV signal normal acceptance. This is just like the power outlet and plug, only the same type can be plugged together. China's plug can not be inserted in the UK standard power outlet.

Color TV image display is composed of mixed signal of three primary colors red, green and blue. The brightness degree of the three colors makes the colorful images. How to deal with the three primary color signals and to achieve broadcast and receive, this needs a certain technical standards, which formed a color TV standard. So comes the three TV system: NTSC (also known as N system, or the United States standard), PAL system (also known as Parr or West Germany, UK), SECAM system (also known as Sekon system or French system). The main differences between these three systems are frame frequency (field frequency), the decomposition rate, signal bandwidth and carrier frequency, relationship of color space conversion, etc.

PAL (Phase Alternating Line), is a television system developed in 1965, mainly used in China, Hong Kong, the Middle East and Europe. This system is with color bandwidth of 4.43Mh, audio bandwidth of 6.5Mhz, 25 frames per second.

NTSC (National Television System Committee) standard is made by the United States National Television Development Committee in 1952. The United States, Canada, and Japan, China Taiwan, South Korea, the Philippines and other countries use this standard. This system is with color bandwidth of 3.58Mhz, audio bandwidth of 6.0Mhz, 30 frames per second picture.

Why NTSC system is 30 frames per second while PAL system is 25 frames per second ? This is because the country's electricity is 110V \ 60HZ, so the TV field frequency signal directly get the frequency AC 60HZ, and two constitute a frame, so 60 divided by 2 is equal to 30, which is the number of TV frames. China's electricity is  220V \ 50HZ, so it’s 25 per second.

Why does camera image seem like snowflake at night?

  • Author:Flora Li
  • Source:www.mvteamcctv.com
  • Release on :2016-11-03
Have you encountered the problem that camera image is quite white, glare, and looks like snowflake at night?

Here we summarize some reasons for the problem:
1-Poor quality IR Leds,IR distance and angle does not match with the lensSome factories mix use different angles IR leds on one Led board, the benefits is one Led board can use together with different sizes lenses barely.Disadvantage is angle of the Leds and distance are inappropriate with lens. When the angle is not appropriate, prone to flashlight phenomenon or narrow electric phenomenon. When the distance does not match, for example, use 12MM lens, but with 10m~20m IR distance, then there will beblurry, a distant blur and near snowflake.
That's why MVTEAM doesn't have stocks, for each order,we need confirm lens with customers firstly, then choose matched IR leds to produce.
2-Power supply is not enough
If distance between power supply and camera is short, a centralized power supply 12V is very convenient. But if it is far away from power supply and camera, it is not suitable.
Because long distance IR LEDs have large heat, and current attenuation is fast in long cable, power current is not enough to make IR LEDs work.

3-In a dusty environment
In the daytime, IR LEDs don’t work, the little dust cannot be seen. But at night, IR LEDs work, so that little dust can be seen by the camera.
