Some security camera users encounter a strange phenomenon, the camera appear the image normally in the daytime, but no image at night and don't know what's the reason. In this post, we list some reasons which can cause the issues. Hope it can help users to solve the problem.
Power supply problem 
Power shortage is the main reason for the infrared camera have not to receive images at night.Infrared camera is able to work during the day, mainly because it does not need to open the infrared light during the day, the power demand is small. However,at the night, the camera is in the light or less light environment, need to open the infrared light board to fill light, infrared light board Is the name of the "power consumption",  most of the camera’s power supply are provided light board, and it will appear the phenomenon due to lack of power .If it the camera appear the phenomenon, you should check the power whether is enough to the camera at night.　　   

The problem of infrared light board
Infrared light board is an important night vision device of the camera,it will lead directly to the infrared camera without image at night , when the hands of the infrared surveillance camera appears above the situation, you can first check whether the infrared light board was work properly.We only need to look at the normal power of the camera and check whether the infrared light board have appear a weak red light , if yes , It is proof that the infrared light board is good, if no,the board is bad , you should change a infrared light board 


Filter(IR-Cut) problem
Filter is refer that transparent filter glass on the head of camera sensor, its mainly function is filter and trim the light. Filtering problem is mainly refers to the wrong red filter was used by factory, causing the camera lens to receive infrared light filtered by the filter and can not be imaged.But this problem is rare. So after you check the camera and confirm the infrared light board and power supply are no problem, then you can check the filter of the camera .

If its capacity is already full, the previous video records will be erased. so if you want to keep the records, you need backup them to other storage devices. We had introduced how to backup video records via USB flash disk and CMS software for MVTEAM 5-in-1 DVRs. And today, we will introduce how to backup MVTEAM NVR video record by USB flash drive. Steps as below:

1-Insert a USB flash disk to NVR USB port.

2-Enter NVR Main Menu, click “ Playback &Backup ” icon.

3. Select a short video and play, then click “ Backup”.

4- You will see usb disk information that you insert, choose Channel, Record type and Start/End time(you need to backup), select usb device, then click “ Backup Start ”.

5. Then it will show like following, click “OK”, video begin backup.

6. After finish, it will show you “Backup completed successfully”, that means
NVR video has been backup to the USB flash disk.

7.Copy the video records from USB flash disk to computer, the videos are AVI format, you can play them by video player.

There are 5 simple ways that can help you to check whether a CCTV camera is working or not.

1. For a PTZ camera, you will see this camera rotate continuously when powered on, at the same time, you will hear a distinct buzz when it’s rotating. If you have set up the tour function of the PTZ camera, you can see it moving constantly when it’s in working status.

2. All MVTEAM CCTV cameras have IR LEDs for night vision. You can see small red lights around the lens of the CCTV camera in the dark, when this CCTV camera is on. You can cover the light sensor to block the light falling into CCTV camera. If you see the lights turn red, it means that the CCTV camera is on.

3. You can see from monitor, mobile phone or PC, to check if you can see live streaming. 

4. You can use electronic bug detectors to check if the CCTV camera is on or working. CCTV cameras will produce a balanced signal when they are on or in working status. 

5.Confirm whether the CCTV camera is real or fake. If it’s a fake CCTV camera, it will never be on.

Winter Maintenance Tips for CCTV Surveillance System

Seasonal maintenance for your cctv surveillance system does not take a lot of time, but is extremely important. This is especially critical during the wintertime, because cold temperatures and harsh weather conditions can impact the performance of your system. Following are some tips of maintaining and protecting cctv suveillance system for your reference.

1. Check the enclosures of CCTV cameras
Take a good look at the enclosures and CCTV camera housing. Are the enclosures still providing weather protection? Look for any signs of exterior damage, including dents or gaps. Then, open up the camera housing and look for signs of water, condensation, ice, or dirt that may have built up inside of the enclosure. If you find any of the aforementioned elements inside of your camera housing, it’s a clear indicator that the housing is no longer providing optimal protection, and may need to be replaced.The snow or ice that accumulates on your camera enclosure also need be regularly clear away throughout the season.

2. Clean and Inspect Camera Lenses
It’s important to inspect the camera lenses, to make sure they are clean and damage-free. Elements such as dirt and dust, along with various weather conditions such as sleet and snow can impact the visibility of your cctv camera lenses.
To clean the camera, you can start by spraying a can of compressed air onto the lens to gently blow any loose dirt or debris off it. If the camera lens has any smudges, you can gently wipe it with a microfiber cloth to remove the smudges.If any spots remain, you can dampen a small area of the microfiber cloth with a bit of plain water and gently go over the lens again with the damp cloth, and wipe the lens with a dry cloth, or let it air dry.

3.Install an extreme temperature camera
Extreme temperature cctv cameras are engineered to perform seamlessly during the heat of the summer and during the frigid winter months. Such camera usually is with a built-in heater and extreme temperature operating range, can ensure uninterred operation when the temperatures rise and fall.The built-in heater helps to protect the camera’s electrical components, prevents fogging and condensation, and keeps it operational in freezing temperatures. The all-weather construction supports a wide temperature operating range so that the camera is able to withstand sub-zero temperatures.

4. Examine cables of the whole system
Look  for any signs of cable fraying, or wear-and-tear, exposed wires. If there is any fraying, tearing, or wires that are exposed—you need to promptly replace the damaged cables. Inspect cabling to confirm  that all of your cables have a secure connection and your cameras and recorders are receiving power.

You can also deter water or moisture from pooling up inside of your security cameras by creating a U-shaped drip loop with your camera cables. A camera drip loop prevents water from seeping in and forming a puddle of water inside of the cameras.

5. Inspect connectors of cameras
Carefully inspect all of the connectors to ensure that there is no sign of damage or corrosion. Replace any connectors that are corroded, damaged or do not form a secure connection to the equipment.

6. Remove dust from the DVR/NVR
A layer of accumulated dust can have an effect on the performance of the video recorder, so it’s important to keep it clean and dust-free. If there is any accumulated dust on the top of the enclosure—wipe it away with a clean microfiber cloth.You can also use a can of compressed air to gently blow air into the recorder’s enclosure. 

7. Inspect all power supplies
Frequently inspecting the power supplies will ensure that the equipment hasn’t lost power due to a storm, tampering, power outage, or other event.

8. Check sight obstructions of cameras
Look  for trees, shrubs, or braches that block the view of your video cameras. If there any obstructions from  landscaping, or other elements such as snow banks, holiday decorations, or icicles—promptly remove any of the objects that impede a clear view from the camera lens.

Firstly, let’s talk about the advantages of IR Leds.
1) Infrared Leds provide IR light which is invisible to the human eye but visible to the CCTV camera. It’s the best choice for both black & white and day/night cameras, because IR is invisible to the human eye it is ideal for covert surveillance. The camera can see, but the intruder cannot.

2) As their light can’t be seen, IR Leds are the perfect solution in sensitive areas where light pollution needs to be avoided, areas such as residential neighbourhoods and parks.

3) IR illumination also works well over long distances, with illumination at ranges up to 370m. Therefore in many applications IR illumination is the perfect lighting tool for CCTV, allowing cameras to capture crisp, clear images in black & white, and optimising camera performance.

Secondly, let’s know about different wavelength of IR leds.
*715-730nm - overt IR, produces a red glow like a red traffic light.
*815-850nm - semi-covert IR with a faintly red glow only just visible.

*940-950nm - covert IR invisible to the human eye.

Infra-Red light can be used to provide discrete or covert illumination for CCTV to minimise light pollution, or to provide very long distance illumination. IR can be used with monochrome and day/night cameras. As IR becomes more covert it becomes more difficult for the camera to see and consequently distances are reduced. 940-950nm IR should only be used with highly sensitive cameras fitted with high performance lenses. Focussing is also more difficult at those wavelengths as lenses start to operate more inefficiently with 940-950nm. As a 13 years CCTV camera factory, we mainly choose 850nm IR leds for ahd cameras and IP cameras.

When you import from China, choose the right way to transport is an important issue. It will decide wether you can receive the goods safe and timely. Based on more than 10 years exporting experience, here we summary some things need pay attention for different delviery ways.  

By Express
If choose sending the goods by express, such as DHL, Fedex, UPS, Fedex, Armex etc. You need remind your supplier notice below special requests for your shipment:

1-DHL and UPS
*Requests commercial invoice in triplicate with the goods 
*In some South American countries countries, they don’t accept the goods with batteries. So if you import goods with batteries, please remind your supplier to choose a suitable transport way.
*If sending the goods to Japen, commercial invoice must indicate material and both Chinese and English name.

2-Fedex
*Fedex need prepare the commercial invoice in five copies with the goods, and invoices need to provide material and customs code.
*Can not show the Hongkong address, the address and the commercial invoice header can not appear the Hongkong words.

3-Armex and EMS 
*Armex requests show material and customs code of each item on commercial invoice, for material, it’s better don’t not show “metal”.
EMS: The gross weight of each package can not exceed 30kg, each shipment only can include one package.

By Air 
* The weight of each shipment need up to 45kg.
*The commercial invoice and packing list need in triplicate.
*If the goods are with batteries, need your supplier provide the MSDS report to shipping company.

By Sea
The shipping cost by sea is much cheaper than by expresses and by air, but shipping time is much longer, usually need 30~60days or more. So we suggest ship by sea for shipment with below features:
*Big quantity
*Heavy weight or big size
*Don’t need receive urgently
The B/L( bill of lading) is another important thing need pay attention for by sea shipment, you can choose get the B/L by express or telex release, if choose receive by express, please do keep the B/L well after receiving it. Because without B/L can not pick up the goods, and it's really hard to reapply a B/L.

Some customers asked "Whether Panoramic Camera is Really Necessary for Camera Surveillance System?". The answer is “it depends on where you want to use it”. For example, if you want to watch a hallway or road intersection, panoramic cameras will be very useful to see all directions from one single point. Also they will save you from using too many dome cameras or a PTZ camera.They are also ideal for general monitoring  in large indoor areas such as elevator lobbies, meeting room, logistic warehouses etc.

On the other hand, as mentioned  above, panoramic cameras can only provide general view, if you want high detail, you will be dissatisfied.
